Important information












The results of implementation of the technical assistance projects (programs) in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in the first half of 2011

 
   In the first half of 2011 year 70 projects and programs of international technical assistance were under implementation on the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. 6 of them have already been completed, 21 are scheduled for completion and 43 will continue to work.
 
   The volume of international technical assistance for implementing projects and programs totaled 47.6 million UAH.
 
 
   Major donors: the United States, Turkey, the European Union, the Netherlands, Germany, Canada, UK, Korea, Switzerland, United Nations, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
 
   The largest number of projects was implemented in the sphere of education, science and culture (25), social infrastructure (14) and economic development (9).
 
   Also, the main areas of projects include health care (6), safety of human life (5), tourism (3) and agriculture (2).
 
 
   In the first half of 2011 with the support of international technical assistance projects and programs there were:
 
  •    carried out repairs in more than 40 educational institutions (schools, boarding schools, preschool institutions);
  •    repaired water supply system and sanitation in 18 settlements of the autonomy;
  •    8 permit centres were equipped.
 
   A special contribution to social and communal infrastructure of Crimean regions was submitted by the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund, which invested 10 million UAH from 2005 to 2008 in repairing schools and kindergartens, solving problems of drinking water, reconstruction of drainage networks. Within the project "Promoting social infrastructure development" 35 micro projects in 7 regions of Crimea have been implemented since 2009 and 48 will be completed by the end of 2012 (their budget is 5 million Euro).
 
   The largest number of projects is implemented in the towns of Simferopol (24) and Evpatoria (7) and Bakhchisaray (8), Belogorsk (7) and Chernomorskoe (7) regions.
 
   Less active - Krasnoperekopsk (3) and Saki (3) regions, the towns of Armyansk and Alushta.
 
   An important event in the current year is start up of large-scale projects and programs, such as:
  • Programme of the European Union, "Support for joint cooperation initiatives in Crimea" with a budget of 10 million Euro, which involves tourism and social infrastructure development;
  • The second phase of the project "Promoting social infrastructure development", implemented by the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund with the support of the German Government. Project budget - 3.1 million Euro, including 2.65 million Euro that will be directed to micro-projects in Crimea;
  • Program for development of public-private partnership of the U.S. Agency for International Development with a 12 million USD budget for Ukraine;
  • The second phase of the joint project of the European Union and United Nations Development Program "Local development oriented on colossus". The total estimated cost of the project in Ukraine is 17.1 million Euro. 8 regions of the autonomy have already been selected for the project.
 
   The Government of Crimea pays a particular attention to partnership with international organizations and international technical assistance projects and programs.
 
   To date, there were agreements signed with 12 international organizations and technical assistance programs and projects. 8 of them were signed in 2011.
 
   They are: the agreements with the United Nations Development Programme, the American public non-profit organization "International Relief and Development, Inc.", the projects, "Local development oriented on colossus", "Support for the Agency for Regional Development of the AR Crimea", "Unite for reform", etc.
 
   In the second half of 2011 the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the AR Crimea will continue to establish cooperation with international organizations, projects and programs. There was organized a work to enhance activity of local authorities on attracting donor assistance for the socio-economic development of the regions.
