Chinese investors are willing to invest in implementation of Crimean projects

 
   Vice-Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Crimea - Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the autonomy Ekaterina Yurchenko and Director of the Agency for Regional Development of the republic (ARD) Alexey Starodubov met with representatives of the company «INVESTEK Ltd» (Great Britain) in the financial capital of China – Shanghai.
 
   The meeting was held in the framework of the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Agency for Regional Development of Crimea and the company «INVESTEK» within the II International Black Sea Economic Forum.
 
   Thus, the parties have continued negotiations on investment projects in Crimea with an assistance of Chinese financial resources. In particular, there were discussed issues of China's investment in development projects and reconstruction of the International airport "Simferopol", construction of the complex "Yalta Port" in a of public-private partnership form.
 
   "We had a very productive meeting with the partners of the «INVESTEK» company, which has in its own Investment Fund in Shanghai on attracting Chinese monetary resources, as well as with representatives of Sinosure insurance company and the China Development Bank», - said Alexey Starodubov. Director of the agency reminded that in accordance with the Memorandum, the company «INVESTEK» is looking for investors willing to invest in these projects, and then it will coordinate the ongoing work. The ARD of Crimea agrees to provide the «INVESTEK» company all the necessary information and to assist in its activities. According to Alexey Starodubov, the need for investment in reconstruction of the International airport "Simferopol" and the "Yalta Port" complex is about $ 300 million for each project.
 
   The same partners discussed financing of the project on transfer of Evpatoria sea port facilities to the South Spit of Lake Donuzlav. "The Chinese side is ready to allocate $ 1.2 billion under a memorandum of cooperation with China National Technological Import & Export Corporation (CNTIC)", - said Alexei Starodubov. The agency has signed 2 memorandums with this company: the first one in December 2010 and the additional one on establishing a working group on 12 October this year. According to Alexey Starodubov, the working group has to clarify all technical details and submit a concrete investment proposal until the end of the year.
 
   Among other projects, which ARD of the autonomy plans to implement with the Chinese side, is construction of combined cycle power plant in Shchelkino. For this purpose, a contract on performing the feasibility study was concluded between the State Enterprise "Crimean-generating system" and the Chinese national machine-building corporation.
 
   Earlier these projects were also discussed with the companies China State Shipbuilding Corporation NDRI and China Rail Signalling & Communication in Shanghai and Beijing.
